GM Recalling Chevy Wagons

GM has issued a recall of nearly 300,000 Chevrolet wagons.

General Motors Corp. is recalling almost 300,000 Chevrolet HHR wagons because of a problem with a storage bin latch. The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says the recall would cover 296,422 HHRs built for the 2006-08 model years. In tests, a storage bin in the top centre of the instrument panel failed to remain shut, as required by federal safety standards. Owners of HHR wagons covered by the recall would be sent a latch reinforcement and instructions on how to install it, GM said. Owners can also have their local Chevy dealer install the part

The recall is scheduled for November 2008.
