GM remains bullish on China. Currently the North American heavyweight auto maker is the number two producer of cars in China. They plan on gaining more market share, on the strength of new vehicles, such as the hybrid Buick Lacrosse.

“The automaker that gets China right will be the future leader of the industry,” said GM Chief Executive Officer Rick Wagoner. “We’ve got to bring our best game here.”

The Buick Lacrosse uses a hybrid gas/electric engine and should be available for sale by August of 2008. Pricing won’t be cheap, as the car is aimed at affluent customers mainly.
